Dolly Parton was born on January 19, 1946, in Locust Ridge Tenn. She was raised alongside 12 other kids. Her imaginative mind allowed her to escape life's harsh reality. life. She was writing songs before she learned to read or write. The first guitar she received was gifted by her mother when she was eight. She began singing in the Knoxville Tenn station by the age of 11. She recorded her first album in the same calendar year on Gold Band Records, a small independent label. While she was popular in the local scene while she was at High School, she knew her ambitions were much bigger. When she graduated from high school in 1964 she moved straight to Nashville. Dumb Blonde (1967) and Something Fishy (1968) were the first two albums to chart for Monument Records. Porter Wagoner began looking for women to sing for his syndicated television program at about the same time. Parton joined RCA Records and then joined the Grand Ole Opry. She took on the role in 1967. She left Wagoner's show, however, in 1974 due to her solo albums like Joshua Coat Of Many Colors and Jolene exceeded the sales of their joint albums. The two split in 1974, Parton wrote the song I Will Always Love You for Wagoner and it climbed to No. It was the first time a song hit the top spot.
