
Jessica Michelle Chastain, born March 24, 1977, is an American actress. Most famous for her roles in films with feminist themes, she has been awarded numerous awards, including an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award. Time magazine named her one of the top 100 influential people on the planet in 2012. Chastain began acting as a child. In 1998 she made her professional debut on stage in the role of Shakespeare's Juliet. After studying acting at the Juilliard School, she was signed to a talent holding contract with the TV producer John Wells. She was a regular guest star on several television series as well as starring in many stage productions. After her debut in film at the age of 31 in the drama Jolene (2008), Chastain made her mark in 2011 with six film releases that included the dramas Take Shelter (2011) and The Tree of Life (2011). She was nominated for Academy Award nominations as a character in The Help (2011), where she played an aspiring socialite. Then she appeared in Zero Dark Thirty (2012) as an analyst for the CIA analyst. The science fiction films Interstellar (2014), The Martian (2015) and It Chapter Two (2018) had more success commercially. Chastain received further acclaim for her role as a strong-willed woman in the dramas The Most violent Year (2014), Miss Sloane (2016) and Molly's Game (2017), and the television miniseries Scenes from a Marriage (2021). In the biopic The Eyes of Tammy Faye (1921), she played Tammy Faye Bakker. She won the Academy Award as Best Actress. Tammy Wynette was the miniseries George & Tammy (222). Chastain is the creator of the production firm Freckle Films, which was created to promote the inclusion of diverse film makers. She is an investor in the soccer team Angel City FC. She has a strong voice on mental illness, gender equality and racial equity. She is engaged to fashion executive Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo who is her partner.
